Clarity Peak
Clarity Peak is a very frigid place. It is named so because of the clear night-time view. In the evening, the silver moonlight illuminates the white snow, creating a vivid, beautiful scene. There is a river that runs from the summit, delivering freezing cold water to the bottom of Clarity Peak. The water comes from melted snow. This river feeds most of Wolf Valley, including Gray Lake. Due to the harsh environment, food is scarce. Usually for a good meal, the pack will make the long, violent trek to the mountain's base.

The she-wolf's tail twitched as she perched atop a rocky outcropping, observing for any signs of life. The snowy wasteland was empty, and silent. A recent snowfall had covered the tracks Kai had been following, unclear if they belong to a small animal or another wolf. She could hardly tell. Her scouting abilities were very minimal, but she could run, so she decided this was the best job for her. Now, alone in the freezing snow, Kai wasn't so sure. She could see the white blanket covering everything, and had been away from camp for what felt like days, even though night had not yet fallen once. She balanced on the rocks, swiveling her head around, observing. She would head back to camp, if she knew where it was. Which she didn't. Hopping off her rock perch, Kai decided to head back up the mountain. Hopefully, if would lead her back to the camp.

((I know there's no one here right now, but we have to start somewhere, yeah?))
White coated the mountain side, small frozen flakes fluttering on the breeze. Even with warmth seeping through the rest of the valley, Clarity Peak remained frozen in time with frozen soil. The things that grew here were tough and stubborn creatures; from the thick, tough stalks of sage stuck waiting for the heat to reach its full strength, to the wolves that roamed the peak and called it home. In stark contrast to the white backdrop, a black figure sat solitary with amber orbs glowing against a dark russet accent. Were it not for the occasional movement of perked ears, or the rare shift in movement, one could easily mistake the small, snow covered figure for a rock still stuck in winter's grip. Yet, here was a warm, living canid who called the desolate peak her home along side several other wolves. Together, they composed the Heavenheld Pack and although the female would be less than likely to admit her social situation, she did quite enjoy the company of most of her comrades. She was known to her pack as Destra, or simply Des, but bore the full name of Destra Valger. It was a name that suited her personality as well as the shades of her fur; Dark and difficult to really understand.
Standing, Destra shook the snow from her fur, warming her stiff bones and working her cold joints. At the shoulder Des stood a little over a foot and a half, short in comparison to the other wolves that roamed the peak, shorter still in comparison to the wolves of the other packs in the valley. However, her small stature gained her an advantage in speed and made her seem less noticeable even with her contrasting color in comparison to her surroundings. Many times she was overlooked or misjudged based on her size, but in her three years on the earth she had managed to become a force to be reckoned with despite her short comings. For example, she was blessed with wide, webbed paws that gripped the snow and kept her afloat among the drifts and thick fur diffused the bite of the cold winds that would slip into the undercoat of others.
With a sigh, Destra padded forward, gazing down the rest of the peak to watch the waters of Gray Lake where she could vaguely find the forms of others, relishing in the warmth. Her ears flicked back as her lip curled slightly with disdain. Socializing had never been a strong suit of hers and nor did she particularly enjoy the company of more than a select few. In this case her position as a scout was well suited for her, she spent little time back in the epicenter of the pack and was alone with little more than the plants of the mountain and the sky above. However, there were still the select few moments when her shoulders felt heavy with the burden of isolation.

A wolf?! Up here? Maybe I won't run into them... Andrea thought, her small head picking up from its' original position upon the frozen surface. Andrea has taken a nap before she decided to go hunting farther down the valley, But the scent of a stranger wolf would awaken her to a somewhat surprised state of mind. She guessed that someone had to live here, even if they didn't live here for the whole year. But this scent was different from the other ones. This one had stayed in a certain spot for a long period of time, and was very strong. "It's fresh too. I might be in someone's territory...I need to get moving." Andrea spoke, slowly rising to her 'snow-shoe' paws. Her wide paws provided help from sinking in the fresh snow as she continued her trip through the mountains. She would slow down some, seeing a black snow-covered figure close by. As the snow would fall, she would be covered in the frozen bits of rain and frost. When Andrea would shake the snow off, her nose felt numb. She pawed at it and sniffed, trying to warm it up some. In this weather, she needed keen senses in order to survive.
Once her nose has warmed up and not feeling like Ice, she would shake the snow off once more and would come closer towards the figure. She stopped dead, with her pupils like tiny circles. She would stand completely still, trying not the even breath. This action was cause by the rock-looking figure that would sudden stand and move closer towards the peak's edge. She would see a small black-figure, like herself, that was looking down the peak. What do I do? Do I try to circle around? Do I stay still? She thought, trying to think quickly. She didn't know if this wolf was aggressive, or a loner that roamed this horrid tundra. Andrea would then slowly lay down, flattening her ears to the crown of her head with her nose pointed down. Her hunting instinct came out, as she would lay perfectly still to try to not be seen. The snow would help to cover some of her scent, but she knew that the wolf would smell her out. Especially for how close she was. Her pelt and eyes were definitely against her in this situation, as her black coat would stick out in the white wonderland. Her Icy blue eyes would stick out as-well, since they were a part of her black mass. Her eyes were wide open, her pupils still little spots. She would even try not the blink. She would try her best to not give herself away, as prey were easier to fool than a common wolf of the area.

With a sneer, Destra shook her head at the scene below her and huffed. Turning away, she shook out her thick black and russet pelt, hoping that shaking her fur would rid her of the weight of not only the snow, but the feelings that came with watching the wolves below too. No matter how used to the isolation she was, or how much she cherished it when she was confronted with socialization, she was still a social creature. As much as she hated to admit it, the fear of being alone did get to her and chilled her further than the snow on her shoulders. Slowly she closed her eyes and took a breath, steeling her resolve and feeling the cold arctic air fill her lungs.
The breath brought calm to her nerves and a strange smell through her nostrils. Destra's ears perked, flicking to catch the minute sounds of the snow before rolling back to press against her skull. The wolf smelled strange, as though not all wolf, but also a strange creature with the smell too sweet and warm for the wild. The smell was mixed with the bitter stench of fear as well, erratic and holding at the back of her throat. Lowering her head and falling to somewhat of a crouch, Destra turned to the source of the smell. The female was easy enough to pick out, black as coal against the cotton white of the snow, but even though she was huddled in the snow with small flakes quickly dappling her pelt, Destra could see she was larger than herself. At the same time though, Destra knew that size did not always correlate with strength and even with the muscles rippling beneath the fur of the fae, she could tell she was no real threat. Threat or not though, it was the duty of the scouts to fend off what threats they could and report those they couldn't. Hackles raised, Destra took a step towards the wolf, lip curled to show clean fangs clenched together, "Who are you trying to hide from wolf?" she barked, voice hard stone and as cold as the frigid air around them. "It's not exactly the smartest spot on the mountain you could have chosen."

"I know that. I've just realized there were other wolves around here..." Andrea decided to speak up, guessing there was no other choice anyway. She would stand up, and shake her pelt. The large amounts of snow that were trying to hide her presence, were now falling to the ground. Andrea would then make her way until she was about 9 feet away, then would stop and sit down. Her brownish-back fur would seemingly sparkle in the light snow, even for its' mid-night complexion. Andrea's light Blue eyes would stare downward, looking at the small damsul in-front of her. "I'm not trying to necessarily hide from you, Ma'am. But I didn't expect to encounter in other wolves up here." She'd speak with some manners, trying to start out on the right paw. Andrea would notice the expression on this black and russet coated female, As if she knew that she wasn't full wolf. But, then again, once Andrea showed herself and ventured closer; any-wolf could tell that she wasn't. Her pelt colour and scent gave too much away, even if she had the body build on a wolf.
"I'm going out on a limb here, But I'm guessing that you figured out I'm not full wolf based on your body language..." Andrea would speak in a shy manner, looking down towards her paws. Her tail position was lower than the usual middle set height, as it was pointed downward in a introvert state. Something that would happen when Andrea would encounter strangers. "If I'm right, then your correct..Unfortunately. I'm a hybrid, a wolf/dog to be more specific. That explains my rare pelt and eye colour." Andrea would explain to her, her tail tip making the slightest of wag. Maybe she could possible be-friend the female before her. Maybe, just maybe, she would be able to stop suffering from her past. To start over in this wonderful place that she might be able to call home. Maybe just once, she would be able to live a happy life. Andrea would stop carrying away with the several possible outcomes to this encounter, and would return her thoughts to what was happening in the moment. In the snow, her eyes would sparkle and have a seemingly glow, and Andrea would try to read her expression.

((Ugh. Sorry for the late reply, I think I've started this thing three times and always forget to post.)) Destra's brow crinkled, her lip curling deeper into a sneer. Her pelt flamed with anger at the wolf's audacity, sending a rippling ridge of fur to rise along her spine. "I care not what content wolf you carry in your blood, nor what amount of mange." she snapped, stalking forward to stand a meager yard away from the larger wolf. Small or not, Destra's temper was big and her mouth was bigger. Getting into arguments seemed to be her strong suit and she always pushed to finish whatever fight she started. She raised her head and tail, her fur fluffing out to make her appear larger, "What I care about is that you are over your boundaries and in a land that does not belong to you without having so much as asked." her jaws clacked with each word, anger spewing like venom.
"What I care about is why you're even here." Her voice lowered, in some ways it seemed more lethal than her raised volume. Cold, calculated, and ruthless.

( It's fine, Destra. I've been busy with other things recently, so I've haven't been able to stay long with each visit to the site. ) Andrea's instinct was to growl, but she resisted the urge even though to short tempered fae would stalk closer. She'd gulp softly, her shoulders and fur automatically rising up in a threat position. She wouldn't resist this urge though, because she was trying to look larger just like the stranger wolf would. Her tail would fluff out like a pine tree and would be held high, more from surprise than a threat. "Look. I'm trying to start out on the right paw here by being nice, and I thought even a short tempered wolf; apparently like yourself, would even figure that out..." Andrea would snap back, the growl would be heard as she spoke. Andrea would shake her head, and breath slowly. She would look up once more, staring at black and russet coloured Wolf. "Look. I'm used to living in this weather, from my birth pack, but I left them because I was made fun of, Because of my parents and everything. They've done some things, and I've done some unthinkable t-things along the way to here....My point is, I want to start over. I might have left my family and my furture pack, but that place wasn't right for me. I came from the other side of the Valley, far away from here. I snuck through the valley and circled around the area of the lake down there. I'm not sure I was even noticed because I never stayed in one place for too long. I eventually made my way up here. There were tons of wolves, but I didn't know that anybody claimed this territory." She explained, remembering Jackson, and how she thought she could trust him. Start over with..But she was wrong. She pushed her sudden thoughts away and would continue.
"Well, since I found you and you speak of me 'coming into the territory', I suspect that a pack lived here. I was looking for a pack to join. I was wondering if I could join this one..." Andrea would speak firmly to the damsul, Her blue eyes piercing with mixed emotions. Fear, anxiety, excitement, and nervousness all in one bundle. Andrea hoped that she'd be able to join the pack that controlled this area. If not, she would have to go towards the lake and search for a pack to join. She didn't wanted to join a pack just because, she needed to join a pack. She needed to stop being alone and afraid of the world around her, even though she thought being alone was best at first.

((completely understandable, I feel you, with school getting ready to kick up again it's a constant juggle of crap that needs to get done XD))
Destra's ears flicked upright then loosely back again, a thick sigh pouring from her chest. Her amber orbs flicked away from Andrea, focusing on some small speck of ice on the ground. Her mind raced with the sudden decision, tail flicking in irritation. Letting this wolf go would mean someone knew about their pack, and it also meant losing a possibly valuable resource. At the same time, letting her in could mean bringing in a danger that no one in Heavenheld was prepared for. It wasn't even as though Heavenheld were anything but a rag-tag group of wolves though anyways, they didn't even have an official alpha yet.
The mental battle continued on for a few moments, but felt like days. A constant conversation back and forth as Destra's mind conflicted with itself. Finally though, she decided on a decision; "Alright, fine." The words forced themselves out from between clenched jaws, a terse stream of air to hide the anxiety and weight of her decision that had woven itself into her mouth. "I can't guarantee anything, but I can at least take you back to our camp." she barked the words as she turned towards the towering peak in front of the pair, her eyes refusing to connect with Andrea's. "If we might be living together, you may as well know my name anyways," her voice remained cold and concise. Names were sacred things, connecting places and times with a single term for a specific face. "My name is Destra." her voice had lowered with the words, quieting as though to hide her confession for as long as possible.

What felt like hours upon hours, was only just a few moments before the fae would make her decision. Inside, she felt as if she was dangling off a cliff and had managed to climb to safety before it broke, but Andrea knew that she was nowhere near from officially becoming a member of the pack. Andrea had noticed that the black fured fae would look ahead of them, looking upon a large peak that she had called 'home.' Then the stranger wolf would mention her name. Destra. Even though she had never heard a name like Destra; She would still like it. She thought it suited the wolf's appearance and personality. " I like your name, Destra." Andrea would compliment her, continuing by perking her ear and looking where Destra was. " What is the name of your pack called?" She'd ask, looking back to Destra for a few moments before returning her gaze back upon the peak. Andrea's tail would be held at a medium height in the air, wagging to and fro. Even though she still had to ''play her cards right'' in order to join the pack, she knew that she was safe. For now at-least. Andrea's thoughts would linger back to the event of becoming Alpha, only now it was a vague memory in her head. Her eyes would fill with fear and sorrow when they'd announce her mother's murder to the pack. Andrea shook her head slightly, bringing her thoughts to the present time.
"I've always wondered something, though. If a pack lived up here; and tons of other wolves are down by the lake; I'm guessing that their other packs. Or Allies?" Andrea would question towards Destra, her head tilting to one side; as if a dog begging for treats that it's owner held. She didn't even notice that she was acting like a tame dog for a few moments, but would notice when her tongue was sticking out and she was panting, with her tail wagging. She would make a low growl in embarrassment, more to herself for looking like that, And she would look back up towards the seemingly endless peak. Her tail stopped wagging, and was held almost straight in the air; something that she hasn't be able to do in a long time; even with her parents telling her to do it almost everyday when she was younger. It felt weird, actually; being able to hold her tail Alpha-like; and not be made fun of for trying to be a 'wolf'. She put her past behind her, and would look at the peak for a final time. She'd take in the breath-taking view; while waiting for a possible response from Destra.

Destra snorted at Andrea's compliment, nose wrinkling to the side as she took a couple paces up the mountain. "My pack's name is Heavenheld, with our home so close to the sky it seems only appropriate." she replied, shaking out her fur as more snow clung to it. The snow was falling in thicker, wet clumps now instead of dainty flakes and soaked the fae to the bone. The weather was beginning to make her mood, nervousness about this new wolf and a sudden realization at the vulnerability of her family. Her eyes glazed slightly as her thoughts wandered off, traveling to distant pasts and a variety of futures. She feared the splitting of her pack, much like how the packs had split long ago, but more so feared their demise if they failed to find a leader.
Snapping back, Destra shook her head, clearing away the fog that had clouded her mind as Andrea spoke once more. "Yes, there are several packs, but in reality , none of them are truly our allies. There are simply groups we dislike less than others." her tone was cold and curt, she hated travelling down the mountain and hated the thought of others encroaching on the quaint life Heavenheld had built in the snow. Looking back at Andrea, Destra flicked her tail and ears towards the peak, motioning upwards with her muzzle, "Better get started then, if we want to make it before nightfall." she barked, tone softer than before. Slowly, she began to trudge up the mountain, the snow building around her forelegs slightly before she would lift her paws to walk atop it. She walked slowly so as to let Andrea pass her, still not trusting the female to not run off or to reveal colors of a darker nature.

Andrea would see the reaction from Destra about complimenting her name. But she'd put it aside, seeing that she had a long way to go before earning the fae's trust. "Heavenheld.." Andrea would trail off, trying to remember the foreign word. Andrea would notice a slight change in Destra's mood; seeing clearly that Destra wasn't liking the idea of bringing her to the pack. This would make her nervous as-well, wondering if she was doing something wrong. Well, besides the obvious trespassing into Heavenheld's home. Andrea would become alert to her surroundings; as-well as Destra's mood, to catch anything that would be out of place. But, instead of her ears perked forward with her tail held still, Her audits were pointed slightly down; as for her tail drooping lowly towards the ground.
"Ah, I see." Andrea would reply to Destra's reasoning for the other wolves in the valley. She'd look in the same direction as Destra; with her muzzle pointed towards the peak; with Andrea's icy gaze looking upon the magnificent 'tower' of snow and rock. "O-Okay." Andrea would reply once more; picking her legs high to step out of the fresh power surrounding her. Once Andrea was out of the piling snow around her former position; she would follow Destra towards the mountain. She only half noticed that Destra was going slow on purpose; but she decided to trot next to the fae anyway. Her tail was now held high once more; to keep it from dragging in the snow. Her ears would be perked forward now; listening for any sudden movement near her and Destra. Andrea would follow at a slightly faster pace; only a few paw-steps ahead of Des. Even though she knew Destra was watching her movements, to make sure if she didn't do anything sudden, Andrea's eyes would be locked ahead. She'd mainly be looking at the mountain, wondering where the pack lived upon the mountain. Andrea did know one thing though. If she was accepted into Heavenheld as a full member, She'd like the environment. Considering her birth pack mainly lived near the snowy mountains of the valley far away.
