Gray Lake
This clear body of water comes from the cool stream that falls from Clarity Peak. The water stretches for a few miles, and in some parts, reaches depths of up to 250 feet. The lake stays lucid and crystal, allowing one to see into its deepest points. With patience, large fish can be seen meandering about. In the center of this body lies an island. No one from any other pack aside from The Gray are brave enough to make the swim. If one were to venture there, they would find a beautiful, lively forest. Although the lake is territory to The Gray, the other packs hunt along its shoreline, being that food is bountiful and plenty.

Biuz stepped through the thick, dense and lively forest, as he passed he could hear the crunching of dried up leafs under his paws, the snapping of small twigs and then the sound of water.
He reached the crystal lake, known as Gray Lake, as he stood at the very shore, he could see into the distance that it reached a decent distance. a sigh emitted through his muzzle, passing swiftly through his dark red lips, his cold, black nose scrunching very lightly as he sniffed the air for any scent, yet he couldn't scent as much, as he let another sigh slip through his snout.
He looked down into the deep and shallow lake, as he could see small movements from within the Gray Lake, then he decided. Fish for dinner.

Red wasn't all too sure of where she was going until she found herself face to face with Gray Lake. She had known she wanted to go for a stroll, she just hadn't had a predetermined destination and so she went wherever her long legs and medium sized paws took her... Which appeared to be Gray Lake.
The black wolf paused for a moment, taking in the scenery in front of her before she turned her head, looking over her right shoulder and gazing at the forest, Frozen Forest, her home. She narrowed her fiery colored eyes before looking on ahead and inhaling deeply and quietly, only to release a bored sounding sigh seconds after her deep inhale. An ear of hers twitched while the other one stood lazily on the other side of her head as she stared at the clear lake before her. Red was one that enjoyed an eerie silence but today was not one of those days where the silence was something Red was calling for... And so the black wolf lifted her head, tilting it back, her bottom jaw dropping ever so slightly to create a small opening, and she howled. An eerie howl, lone sounding, low in tone, a bit deep for a female.
Red's howl was not long whatsoever though. It was short, quick, but definitely could be heard if anyone was not distracted by anything else. She lowered her head, leveling it out with her shoulder height and she listened intently for a moment, her ears turning, facing different directions almost every few seconds as she listened for any responding howl from someone else, anyone at all. The black wolf wasn't exactly calling for attention. All she wanted was to know if someone else was out here, another living creature, another wolf. She didn't care to speak to whoever may respond, but it would just be a slight feeling of comfort for her if she knew another wolf was out here, somewhere, anywhere. But there of course was always that possibility, a low one, but always the possibility that if someone did respond she would eventually maybe want to spark up a conversation if that type of mood ever dared to come over her while she was out on her stroll.

Female - Ξ Shard Ξ - Warrior It seemed not even the Alpha knew why the spirits had accepted them, of all creatures, into their abode. As she listened to his fragmented reply, her discerning gaze swept over his fur, then moved to Lagu, in his silent approach, and finally to the bouncy she-wolf, Zenna, offering both of the latter a cordial smile as they drew nearer. When Shade began to depart, she hesitated, albeit briefly. Shard marvelled silently at the subtle, shimmering lights of the surrounding grove, as they danced, reflected on the advancing Alpha's flank. Casting a final encompassing glance around their home, she bounded after the group, like an excitable pup leaving the den and exploring the woods for the first time. Her paws drummed a steady rhythm on the compact earth and her heart thumped in her ears with wild anticipation. Once the trees around them began to thin and they came near to the threshold of the grove, Shard breathed in an immense lungful of air. Her mind worked frantically to decipher all of the different scents that rushed to her. The smells swirled and brewed in the back of her nasal cavity and Shard found them extremely stimulating. Saliva formed on her fleshy, salmon tongue as the distant, musty odour of prey animals encased her, igniting a raw hunger in the pit of her stomach. Chirping and trilling flowed into her densely furred ears and she revelled in them, it was pleasant to hear other beings and non-canine noises. Finally she set sights upon the immense, silent lake. It was dark here, much darker than she had expected. The moon was reflected like a globe in the inky water and it spilled an eerie light over her canine companions, highlighting their forms. "Let's hunt." She grinned eagerly, her gleaming ivories visible through the gloom of the night. However, before another thought could cross the ashy she-wolf's mind, a low howl pierced the air. The noise kindled something primal in the depths of the fae's soul. She knew that she should ignore it, but simply could not. It was an instinctual urge. Shard threw her snout into the air, an almost involuntarily howl escaped from her dark lips. Her howl was ardent and penetrating, like a catharsis for the she-wolf, every emotion she had pouring into one long note. Once she had finished, a great sense of relief and guilt crashed over her like a tidal wave. "Sorry." The meek apology came instantly and her tone was laced with regret, she had, after all, alerted a potentially hostile wolf to their approximate position.

Zenna's silver eyes was upwards, towards the white circle above, her white tail trailing behind her like snow. It was the first time she's been here, and it looked quite beautiful. She made an mental note to come here with no one else one day, and just relax by the water. She watched curiously as shard sniffed the air, wanting to know what kind of prey lived around here. Hunt? I hope I have an role that doesn't involve a lot of running... she thought, and the next second an piercing howl filled the air, followed by shard's. "What are you doing?!" she hissed, glancing around, half-expecting something to come flying at them. "Do you know this wolf?" Zenna asked, wanting to make sure Shard hadn't just make an big mistake.

Red didn't have to wait long for a response. She had honestly not expected to even get one but there she was, raising her head high, ears facing in the general direction of where the other howl came from.
Emotion. She heard it within that howl, almost could feel it. "Well then." The black wolf said quietly to herself. Now she began to wonder if this individual was alone, being accompanied, or in general part of a pack. She wondered, but not for very long as her ears relaxed and she lowered her head a bit and began to stalk off along the edge of the lake.
She wasn't going to stay in one spot in case anyone came looking for her. Red could easily assume that maybe the other wolf was not a threat if they so easily gave away their position but she was not going to take any chances, considering she was all alone with no pack mates and she didn't know if this wolf had others with them.
Red began to pick up the pace, her elegant stride quickening along the edge of the water. Occasionally a paw or two landing in the very shallow spots of the lake along the edge as she speedily walked. She wasn't one to get easily paranoid but she found herself glancing over her shoulder quite often, looking for any signs of not being alone where she was and eventually she froze when she happened to look ahead and thought she smelled something, someone, when a gentle breeze swept by her... Red lifted her head, lifting a paw slightly off the ground before moving it back and placing it down firmly on the ground. Did she just catch the scent of other wolves? She was sure she had. Were one of these the source of the responding howl? Red couldn't be quite sure about that but she did know that with the sudden breeze that blew at her face it had brought along the scent of others.
The scent was faint, but it was enough to stop her in her tracks and actually make her second guess herself on if she wanted to proceed onward. She had been walking quickly, covering quite a bit of ground while doing so and she had just been following the edge of the lake consistently. She possibly had found herself closer to other wolves than she had originally thought and it was not quite that comforting.
Welcome to your life even while we sleep we will find you.

Kai's paws hit flat ground, suddenly, where she realized that she had made her way down the mountain. Finally, she thought, shaking snow off her pelt. A low rumble made its way through her body, and she realized just how hungry she was. Grey Lake was the closest area with easy prey, so she headed in that direction. Following the stream, Kai could see the lake in the far distance. The thought of fish was enough to keep her paws moving quickly towards the water. Her thoughts were interrupted by a low sounding howl, followed by another. She wasn't expecting to encounter other wolves, causing the hair running down her back to prickle slightly. She was never very good with strangers. Slowing her pace a little as she neared the lake, Kai walked closer, observing. Hopefully she could spot the other wolves before they spotted her.

Shade's ears perked when he heard a ghostly howl echo in the far west. He'd known other wolves lived near for some time now, but had never experienced any of their activity. Since the Deepwood pack chose dusk as opposed to dawn to be active, other canine activity was rare. He knew it wasn't anyone from his own pack; he'd never heard the voice. Soon, Shard joined he song, only enhancing the eerie scenario. Shade, however wasn't in the least bit concerned about giving away any sort of location. He had his pack by his side, and any attempting challenger would run home with their tail between their legs. In fact, he would've joined in if he had any idea how to howl. His sister vowed to teach him, but that was before the accident. Instead, he just watched. When Shard had finished, one could clearly see in her face that she knew she'd done wrong. Her voice soon confirmed the notion. "No worries. We're safe here s' long as we pay attention to our surroundings and stay together. It was probably just a coyote, anyway."
Shade wouldn't admit, but he was starving and his face lit up into a smile when Shard suggested hunting as their first activity. "I'm glad you said that. Ok. I don't want anything measly, and especially no fish. Let's go big tonight." Even the thought of ingesting fish could make Shade dry heave. The slimy coating, the smell, the way they would sometimes move as you were eating them. Everything about them was utterly horrifying to the greyblack wolf. "It's springtime, so that means most deer are in labor. No use for the bucks now, so let's try and get one of them."

Nova walks towards grey lake and stops at the edge. He looks down at the crystal clearwater seeing his own reflection in the water. Showing of hisvoid-like black fur and his luminous silvery blue eyes spark with curiosity. Giving a little growl he goes and lays staring at the island in the middle of the lake. Taking his time to relax ignores all the bad thing in his mind and thinks about the positive. Nova starts to get tired so he stands up and stretches before he lays back down. slowly dazing off while his snout is pointed at the mysterious island that the grey lake is surround. While asleep he keeps his senses alert.

A canine dressed in a pelt that was as pallid and colorless as the frozen sleet from the land he hailed from trotted aimlessly about, his ears fidgeting each time the sound of dead leaves crunching beneath his feet settled into his senses. They were just a bit annoying, seeing as though the humidity caused them to become quite adherent, which in turn ended up in the sensitive pads along his paws to become adorned in the flaky substance. Today was one of those days. He needed just a bit of time to himself, away from others. Of course, he didn't intend to stray from any of the other canines all day. Actually, he was just about to head back to the group of his pack mates who spoke of a hunt that was to take place later on that day.
After around an hour or so of alone time, West felt his stomach tighten, and a few loud grumbles were made audible by his wanting belly, reminding him that it was once again time to sate its hunger. The snowy male emitted a soft whimper, then turned and began to follow the impressions left in the earth by his large paws. They weren't exactly crystal clear, and couldn't be easily seen. On top of that, the wind that blew had shifted some of what dressed the ground in a blanket of red, brown, orange, and yellow, resulting in the disappearance of any trace that life crawled about the area. Though, it didn't worry him much, since he'd taken some time to familiarize himself with some of the scenery on the way here, taking note of distinct changes, along with things that stood out and could be used as markers to indicate that he was in a certain area. He would be back to his family with little-to-no problems. Thanks to his little methods of escaping the unknown, West was once back in familiar territory. It was now only a matter of minutes until he could meet up with the others. Fortunately for him, one of his own bellowed out a howl, and the familiar tone was then deciphered; Shard. Along with her would be Shade, and the rest of them. An odd excitement coursed through him at the prospect of returning, especially after having cooled off a bit. The white coat lurched forward, shifting from a sluggish trot to a more anxious jog. He eagerly awaited the moment to spot his friends and family, and it was made apparent by the way his ears stood tall, spiked, and tail thrashing against the breeze.

The ashen she-wolf pressed her broad ears flat against her head, overwhelmed with sudden trepidation, only enhanced by Zenna's scathing questions."No." Shard's reply was tentative and measured, however she could not deny the tiny spark of resistance that flared up in her soul in response to being confronted in such a manner. Despite her sudden feeling of tenacity, she nevertheless lowered her broad skull, a show of certain submission and apology.
Paranoia had gripped the mind of the she-wolf, her fur crawling as she suddenly became hyper aware of the sound of disturbances in the nearby woods. Before panic could take hold, the placid response of Shade reached her and it soothed her more than she was able to iterate. In her mind, she was almost certain that the howl had not belonged to a coyote, but she was more than willing to accept Shade's reassurance, if only to alleviate some of her own regret and guilt.
Drawing in a deep breath, she redirected her mind onto thoughts of food and the primal hunger that she had temporarily forgotten blazed in her stomach once more. Shard's imagination reeled as Shade suggested that they seek out the deer, envisioning sinking her fangs into a supple, tepid flank and reminiscing about rich, searing blood coursing over her ready tongue. Though she had her doubts that they might be able to kill a buck with just the four of them, she remained optimistic. Salivating and impatient, the she-wolf raised her snout to the air, a feral aggression blazing in her virescent irises.
Much to her surprise and dread, the scent that flooded into her moist nose as she breathed was not the enticing, intense fragrance of deer, but rather the musky odours of savage wolves; one of these odours was much more homely and familiar than the others that were layered on top of it."Is that...?" Shard's head whipped around, the fur along her spine beginning to bristle as her gaze fixed intently on the treeline and her ears perked up, straining to hear familiar footfalls. "West..." The fae murmured under her breath, recognising one of the scents that dwelled in her nose. He was not alone, it seemed, judging by the variety of wolfish odours that the breeze swept their way. Alert, Shard's muscles began to tense and her eyes glazed over with steely determination. Her dark lips curled slightly, brandishing her keen, tapered fangs. Primed and waiting for whatever, whoever, lurked in the shadows.

A scent Shade had become greatly familiar with over the few years of his life, West. One of the packs long-time betas. He'd always enjoyed having him around, as he always carried a soothing vibe that radiated throughout the entire pack. They'd been friends ever since they were yearlings, right after Shade's escape from the torturous humans. Their pasts weren't extremely different, and they instantly bonded. Shade escaped his nostalgia when something different filled his olfactory senses. He could now see the white wolf, excited as ever. Though, now he were more focused on the new scent. He could tell the others smelt it as well, and Shard was definitely not displaying a welcoming attitude. "Stand down, we don't know who these wolves are, and displaying violence is sure to create unwanted enemies. Let us meet them first."

A few more feet of ascending rocks granted West the satisfaction of stumbling upon his fellow pack mates. Their scents filled his nostrils, settling in and providing a certain comfort that had kindled as a slight warmth within his chest, then blossomed fully, spreading throughout his slightly-worn body. Amongst the array of familiar faces, the white canine could make out Shard, Lagu, Zenna, and Shade, his closest friend, who was also coincidentally their alpha. It brought him great joy to fall upon a common crowd after being alone, even for the short while that he was gone. From afar, their expressions were quite bland-looking, but when closing in, he could make out that Shard had become quite curious about something, and just a twinge of suspicion could be made out. As for Shade, he seemed to have brightened up a good deal, which, in turn, caused a feeling of euphoria to swell within the confinement of the snowy male's still-grumbling gut. they'd be friends for quite a long while now, and the pallid canine couldn't express by way or words alone how the sable barker's existence along had helped him through life. Their pasts were completely different, yet, almost exactly the same. The losses they both suffered, and the loneliness that both canines understood far too well. However, they'd made it through things together, and a promise that West made to Shade was the sole reason that he stuck around. 'I shall forever stand by your side, dear friend, and lead along with you a pack so mighty that the very earth will tremble beneath its footfall.' The words of days far gone echoed within his cognitive, eliciting a sense of nostalgia. Memories played briefly before the male was then returned to reality by the cries of his belly, pleading for satisfaction.
West finally neared enough to where he stood just a few steps from his family, and he offered a bow of his head, to show both apology, and as a form of greeting. "Forgive me, I needed a bit of time to clear my head... Again.." He muttered out, slightly embarrassed by the fact that this had become quite a frequent thing these days. He swiftly shook himself free of timidity's clutches, and his amber gaze rose once again to meet with the combined eyes of his fellow pack mates, whom he then proceeded to greet individually. "Good evening, Shard." He gave a bow once again, then turned his gaze towards Lagu, repeating the process, and finally, his eyes fell upon Shade. they lingered upon the emerald chasms for quite a bit before he spoke up. "Alpha. Good evening, how are things?" The white coat spoke with a hearty tone, showing proper respect for their leader.

At her alpha's command, Shard's storm-grey pelt instantly lay flat against her lean torso and her snarl dissipated. A sudden rush of tranquility overwhelmed the she-wolf, coursing through her veins like a gurgling stream, filling every inch of her body, from her tapered claws to the very tips of her immensely furred ears, until a complete state of placidity seized her. Despite her swiftly fading aggression, her muscles remained taut and primed to attack at a moment's notice. She would not risk the safety of her pack-mates, no matter what her alpha commanded. "Forgive me Shade, but suppose that they are not friendly, that they think that we're the ones invading their territory, is it not safer to be on guard?" Shard's voice was serene, polite and interlaced with warm, amiable tones. She meant no disrespect to the alpha, far from it, Shard simply wished to ensure the welfare of her pack-mates, that was her cherished duty, her job. Indeed, she could not remember the last time she encountered an outsider and she was, of course, much more concerned that her pack departed from the situation in the same condition that they'd entered it, than she was with making allies.
Nonetheless, the fae dutifully dipped her head and took the tiniest step backwards. She supposed that her alpha did have a valid point, as they certainly did not want to risk a war, that would put them in far more peril. Nonetheless, her stubborn stare did not falter, remaining intently fixed on the surrounding tree-line. And as she kept watch, Shard witnessed the ivory fleece of her pack-mate, West, approaching amongst the ancient tree trunks. A surge of contentment and endearment flared within her soul at the sight of her dear pack-mate. The she-wolf loped over to the pallid male and welcomed him warmly, "Good evening, friend." Then a different thought crossed her mind and she queried, equally cordially, "Did you cross any other wolves on your travels?" I love those who can smile in trouble, who can gather strength from distress, and grow brave by reflection.'Tis the business of little minds to shrink, but they whose heart is firm, and whose conscience approves their conduct, will pursue their principles unto death.

Out of nowhere, a strong itchy sensation viciously attacked Behind Shade's ear. He grunted, then plopped into a sit and brought his back leg up to attack the feeling. The relief brought a smile to his complexion, showing his white teeth. He was not at all used to fleas, and only ever got them when he came to the lake. In the grove, they never had to bother with them. He'd almost forgotten where he was, and that he was supposed to reply to Shard. "Mm...you've got a point, but I think if they did decide to attack, we could easily claim victory. I'm not saying to ignore them, but definitely don't attack on sight." The itch returned, and Shade became lit with annoyance. "Gyah! Won't these darned bugs let me be?" He shook his head, and tried to ignore them.
After Shard left to greet their beta, the black half-breed followed, tail swaying excitedly. He welcomed him with a loving lick of the face, then a goofy smile. "Yes, the evening is nice, if I might say. Everything is well, though, I'm a bit hungry, and these itchy bugs are driving me up a tree, but other than that.." Shard spoke after him, asking West about sightings and the like. Shade figured he hadn't seen anyone, or else he would've come running because that's how he is. While waiting for West to answer, he sat again, and began to violently swipe at his ear. As he was sitting, he got a nice view of the night time sky, it was plagued with gorgeous myriads of glowing white flecks, each different in their own way. The moon was almost full, and casting a unique white light over everything. All of the stars made him dizzy if he stared in one place too long.
