"There's really no reason to be rude, if I was going to attack I wouldn't have done it so openly."
That’s a fair point. Frisk thought, but he didn’t let his guard down, he still hadn’t a clue who this fae is. Although he did allow himself to relax slightly, his tense shoulder’s loosening and his hackles smoothed out to once again lay flat on his back and his tail lowered to a more neutral position. His red eyes remand hard and unwavering as he continued to stare the gray fae down. "Alrighty then I suppose, my name is Rhiannon. And you are?" She had introduced herself, her tone calmer. Orbs scanned over the females, or Rhiannon as he now knows her, posture and gestures. Very quickly the black wolf noticed her nervousness, it was subtle though, if it wasn’t for the small lip lick, Frisk wouldn’t have noticed at all. Then again, she could have just been licking her lips just to do so, Frisk’s been wrong before. “….. Hello Rhiannon,” he greeted her with a low tone, “My name is Frisk,” the brute introduced himself with his natural grumpy nature before leaving it like that, he didn’t feel like he needed to speak to her anymore.
To his displeasure, another form appeared into the overly populated clearing, at least he knew this one. Ineo is this wolfs name if he memory is correct. The new arrival didn’t do anything so Frisk turned his attention pack to the other three. "Ineo, you are more than welcome to go with Frisk in effort to retrieve Shard, but I'd understand if you need a bit of alone time. West and myself are heading back home for the night. Stay out as long as you'd like, if you'd like, but be mindful. Make sure you're checking around regularly. We've seen a surplus of others-not part of Deepwood. None of them have been a threat, but there's a first for everything. Do as you please with the night, but be mindful of such strangers." Shade went onto say. Frisk wouldn’t mind having Ineo tag along with him to search for that troublesome female. He enjoys Ineo’s company, he isn’t a loud being and a male with few words. Frisk remembers meeting him and instantly liking him due to his simple nature.
"If Frisk doesn't consider it a hindrance.. I'll gladly assist. I am well rested, and surely two noses are better than one."
In a bat of an eye everyone seemed to stroll off into their own desired directions, leaving him be with Ineo as his source of company. Clicking his tongue, red orbs glanced over at Ineo, his ears swiveling forward, “No hindrance at all Ineo. Let’s go find that troublesome fae.” His tone laced with nothing but annoyance at his own words. Frisk stuck his nose in the air, sniffing softly before moving in a certain direction with lazy steps, “Come now, Ineo. Shard’s scent seems to be coming from this route.” Ears rotated back to lay on his skull as he lick’s his lips, “She better not have gotten herself into any trouble.” He grumbles to himself with great irritation at the very thought.

'Ooh...I didn't realize I'd be this nervous... I know he saw, I mean, he had to. I've never blushed like that. Not around a male. I sure do hope he has the same feelings for me. I've never heard him mention wanting to be mated to any female, but that shouldn't mean I assume he likes guys.. What if he doesn't and I ask him? Would he judge me? Surely he would... Oh well, let's just get this over with, and soon.' Shade thought, he was sure glad no one could read his mind. He would be given some pretty dumb looks. They receded into the water after saying their goodbyes. Even cold, the sensation it provided helped soothe Shade's nerves. "Is it, now? Take a dip doesn't entitle you a full-on body flop into the water!" Shade laughed some. They were getting closer to the woods, now out of the water. The conversation Shade had planned was nagging at him. It wanted to be discussed now. They needed to get back to the shrine, and fast, but would he be able to wait that long? Part of the urgency to return to the stone head was probably caused by Shade's fear of asking...maybe not even part. The whole reason he was stalling the conversation is because he was scared. When they reached their destination, he'd probably come up with another excuse. It was now or never. He nudged West's shoulder, then sat.
"....West?"

After their goodbyes, the two large wolves set off toward their home. Well, all of Gray Lake was their home, truthfully, but, the shrine was more or less what they'd truly call a home. On the way there, West was assaulted by an onslaught of thoughts that had formed and fermented within his noggin. Honestly, it was a tad annoying. Sorta like the fleas that pestered Shade earlier on. 'He had to have noticed me staring at him... He just had to.. There's no way he didn't, and, if he did, what would come of it? Is he taking me back to the shrine alone to demote me? Or.. Maybe he's going to have one of those talks with me...' Unfortunately, the voice within his head went on and on, ranting about possible scenarios that may very well take place in the near future. He tried distracting himself. Really, he did. He'd constantly take quick glances around the lake, peering up into the sky to watch as tiny lunar pearls were woven into the sable fabric that was night time. Even the sounds - of which commonly bestowed the sweetest of all forms of serenity upon him - seemed to have no effect whatsoever. From the buzzing creatures whom frolicked about the dimly lit forest, to the unwanted peaks that fluttered about the air, and even down to the soothing water that curled and pushed against their coats, tickling his underbelly. "Mm? Well, you didn't exactly specify on how I should've entered. And, you know that I like to make an entrance." His current train of thought was derailed by Shade's spoken thoughts, and, upon answering, he noticed that they'd neared the forest. West followed closely, emerging from the water at a leisurely pace, as not to douse his friend yet again. Though, it would've been pretty funny, now didn't seem like the time. Truth be told, he thought that they both looked kind of funny with their pelts all soaked and slicked down. It made him look skinny, even though, admittedly, he had just a bit of chub-chubs. His paws felt great on dry land. "So, Sh—.." He immediately halted his speech, having felt the cold, wet about of another wolf press against his shoulder. The sound of West's footfall vanished, and he turned to face the male responsible for his lack of movement. Shade seemed to be sincere at the moment, which meant they were in for a talk. His ears flattened against his head, and he slowly sat, anticipating a stern lecture. He faced Shade, rump planted firmly to the ground just before the black alpha.
"Y-yes Sir?.."

The rush of air around the wings of avians could be heard as a murder of crows took flight, they began to caw as a white lupa rushed through the forest around the Gray Lake. Her pelt prickled as she remembered the stories her mother had told her. She shivered slightly, but carried on, her eyes flickered upwards as she saw a glimpse of grey, her ears perked as she heard a voice.
A lupe. No. Two Lupie.
The white lupa groaned "When I finally build up the courage to swim here..." she growled, quickly shaking her head, she lowered herself to the ground, her tail between her legs as she tried to creep to the shore, her white pelt collecting dirt, sand and debris. The water lapped at the shoreline, she dabbed her paw in, the cool water. Her pelt prickled as she started to back up.
Snap.
'Shoot.' she inwardly growled, sitting up, she shook off her pelt before trotting into the water. She sat down before rolling around in the cool liquid.

He didn't know West would be startled by him when he spoke. Why should he be? Shade was the one with the problem...or so he thought. How do you break it to a long time friend that you like them? No, love them. It would be hard enough just telling a female, but this, this was something completely different. He was telling West, another male, that he had feelings for him. Not only embarrassing, absurd. As an alpha, respect was something he needed. Without it, his pack wouldn't be able to function properly. Keeping something like this secret is a good way to lose that earned respect. He tried to talk, but nothing would come out. 'C'mon... Don't make this more awkward than it has to be...' "West..mating season is coming up soon.." 'Oh dear..too late to go back now..' Shade could hear his heartbeat in his head. He felt so nervous he could throw up. "There are a few females in the packs without mates. Do you plan on maybe talking to one of them? You being beta and all, I'm sure they'd oblige to be your mate."
'What the hell happened, Shade?' He thought. He had no intention of asking that. Oh well, maybe that could break the ice. What if he did say there was someone, though? Shade would be crushed, simply heartbroken. He looked over West. The way his ears were pinned to his head was just adorable. He couldn't help but half-smile. He was larger than Shade by an inch or two in height, and a bit fat as well. It was expected, though, since Shade was only a half-breed. Shade didn't mind the size difference. He, in fact, found it rather attractive. The silence brought on after his question was asked seemed to last forever.

Ineo glanced a final time as the various wolves dispersed from the area. He whispered a silent prayer, wishing West and Shade safe and uneventful travels. He shifted his view to the unknown wolf, Rhiannon, and quietly watched as she bid a silent farewell and ventured off. Who exactly was this wolf? What business did she have here, and why was it that she hadn't been introduced to him? He shook off the concerns, figuring if she was anyone of any importance, he would have been enlightened of the fact.
Turning his attention to Frisk, he approached the male and stood beside him. "What exactly... is the situation with Shard?" He asked. "I wasn't aware she had gone missing... is it cause for much worry? Has she simply been absent of an extended period of time?" While he wasn't exactly worried about Shard at the moment, he wanted to get a better understanding of the situation that he had suddenly been introduced to.

What silence fell upon them only felt as though it were the calm before the storm. It put him on edge, and caused his thoughts to form a malicious torrent in his head. What would become of their friendship if he spoke to Shade the way that he'd hoped to. When the two first met, they were both rather secluded, and had the common tendency to clam up. Hell, screw when they first met. It took a good deal of time to earn the black wolf's trust, and, once he's earned it, he did his absolute best to maintain it. Eventually, they became inseparable friends. That, of course, was made clear by the alpha's decision to hold West at such a high rank in the pack. Knowledge wasn't the only thing that a good leader required. It took a heart that could speak to others in a way words could not. Yet, at the very same time, that same heart was required to sever bonds in the blink of an eye. Whatever it took to make decisions which would benefit the pack's majority, rather than risk complete annihilation. Casualties were to be kept to a minimum. Even his own life was outweighed, in this sense, of course. It was the trust that Shade had bestowed within his snowy-self that made West beta material. If he lost that, what would become of him? 'Focus on one thing at a time, mutt!' He mentally reprimanded himself, cutting off any extraneous thought from here on out. What mattered most right now was manning (or wolfing) up, and telling his friend how he really felt. He let his golden gaze look over the sable body before him. 'You're so handsome, Shade..' He thought, not daring to speak such a thing. Oh lords no, he'd not ever. At least, not given the current circumstances.
"Mm? Mating season?" He replied, having to rewind a bit, analyzing the thoughts once again. 'Wait.. He's asking about mating season...' West spoke only on the inside. This was bound to lead to something in just a moment. It was a good start, anyways, despite it being too early to tell where exactly the conversation was headed, it opened up opportunities to let his true feelings surface. Of course, he himself could've very well given rise to said openings, but, they'd have made for a much, much more awkward situation. 'Okay, West, stay calm, and—' "I've no interest in females." A reddened face followed the sudden blurring of his thoughts. He was suddenly far too nervous to even filter out what went on within his cognitive before letting it run free. Deeper, the new hue added to his palette of color began to sink in. West's face now resembled blood splatter atop fresh winter snow, tainting its purity with a crimson wave. West gave a soft, completely out-of-character whimper. "W-well..." He began to choke up, shifting nervously. "Let me rephrase that, please.." The pallid canine then shifted his eyes down towards the earthy soil beneath where he sat, and a limp paw began to trace shaped into the brown dust, which had slowly thickened and turned to mud due to his being wet and all. "I've no interest in females when it comes to mating.. I-I'm... I'm.. Uh... Different, in that sense.." He added, then stilled his paw and averted his gaze back up towards Shade's own. Those amber chasms brimmed with sincerity, and, were almost begging for forgiveness and acceptance. Simply put, he looked like a big, slightly-chubby, soaked puppy. Ears and all.

The white lupa sighed as the cool water surrounded her pelt, her gaze set upon the mountains, her home, she shrugged, she wouldn't be missed, she wasn't going away forever, just for a little swim, she sighed gently "At least I can actually swim here, the snow is nice but... Water." she breathed, going back to the shore, her ears perked as she heard another wolf.
'Three, okay. No-wolf's noticed me. That's a start.' she thought triumphantly as she shook her pelt on the shore. Her gaze set on a patch of clovers. She knew that it would be very... Pup-like... to roll around, but she often did such things, jumping into snow rifts, that was one of her favourite past-times, Silver shook her head and leapt in, then her attention was caught by a butterfly, her ears perked as she followed it, hopping from time to time.

Shade's ears perked, as well as his body. That simple line West spoke lifted his spirits. He quickly furrowed his brow and began to mask his excitement with concern. He also reminded himself that West may not mean what he hoped. He certainly seemed as if he'd messed up what he said. His face took on a dark shade of red, his paws played around in the dirt, he couldn't even look at a Shade. He had every reason to be bashful. What he said, under every other circumstance, would've gotten him some nasty looks, and if he really did mean it, possibly a demotion.
'No interest in females when it comes to mating' Shade tossed the sentence over in his head. Each time, fully coming to understand what he meant. It was exactly what Shade hoped for. West, like him, took no interest in females as mates. The rest of the conversation would happen easily. "You're..gay? I mean, I kind of suspected it, but, I didn't actually believe it was so. Why haven't you told anyone?" Probably for the same reason Shade hadn't. It was a hard thing to own up to, especially when you're ranked high. Other wolves expect you to have a female mate, as they should. After all, it was mainly the higher ranks who were in charge of repopulating the pack. "Well, are there any males you're interested in?-you don't have to answer that, I'm just curious."

For just a brief moment, the red-faced wolf was able to make out an odd course of action taken by the large male before him. With the way his ears erected, and his body would seem to have followed, it could very well have been taken as a sign of happiness. Though, as stated previously, this alteration was only noticeable for barely any time at all. But still, Shade hadn't completely wigged out about him having spilled the beans on his sexuality. All of he mixed emotions only caused the white wolf to become even more bashful, and that was made apparent when he - a wolf of his size - began to lower his head, placing it along the front paws that were outstretched before him. What'd he gotten himself into?
West fumbled over his thoughts, time and time again, hoping to muster up a sufficient, well-worded response that he'd be able to fluently speak throughout. It was harder than it seemed. Much, much harder. To his knowledge, he'd never met another gay wolf. Not ever. Of course, maybe he could've, and just never known about it. "Ah.. Y-yeah... I'm.. That way..." He spoke, and truly did try to do so with pride. The best trait a wolf could carry was his pride. If he seemed to firmly stand beside what he said, then it'd give a chance for others to do so, too. However, his ego was sorta deflated when Shade asked why his secret was kept to be just that, and nothing more. His answer would definitely follow up on and provide an answer to his friend's next question. This was the moment of truth, and, he couldn't have been any more nervous. Not even their wildest of hunts got him this worked up, ever. "I.. Kept it a secret from everyone because it's a tad odd, no?.. I mean, everyone expects me to be this perfect, by-the-book beta who's strong, courageous, and will one day, of course, give himself to a female within the pack.." West stood, now elevated so that he may look down at the sable alpha in his midst. With the clean paw – okay, the clean-er paw, since both were a bit dirty – he rested it between Shade's ears, just at the pole of his noggin. He opened his mouth to speak, but, words refused to come out, protesting against him. His face was now a darker shade of red than ever before, and he felt as though his heart would slam right through the cage of bones and fleshy encasement that was his chest. "J-just one.. He.. Uh... Means a great deal to me, and.." West choked up a smidgen, swiftly recovering with a quick clearance of his throat. "His name's Shade.."

Shade really couldn't help but feel sorry for his friend. He knew the pain of suppressing a secret like that. He'd dealt with it for almost three years himself. Each day, waking up to find no one to love..really love, not just friend, not even family. More than that. An extension of yourself. Waking up with nothing like that was hard. And there was no solution in sight. He was interested in females as a pup, but unexplainably, that interest vanished. Heck, he'd even tried forcing himself to find a female lover, but it was impossible. He just couldn't do it. Not only would he be harming himself, he'd be holding whoever he chose to mate back. What he would be giving wouldn't be called genuine, despite how he was loved. He just couldn't live knowing he wasn't giving his all. That's why he won't force himself to pair with a female. But West, West however, was someone he could love without hesitation. Everything about the snowy wolf was perfect for Shade. Sweet, smart, a natural born leader, and above all, one of the handsomest mutts he'd laid eyes on.
It was true. For a bit, Shade's heart sank through his chest. He couldn't predict the future, and he was so nervous he couldn't see good in anything. When West was announcing who he was looking out for a mate, Shade had already prepared for the worst. Well, not really prepared. More over, accounted for. You could only imagine the look of confusion shown in the black male's face when West placed a dirty paw between his ears. His shut his eyelids for a brief moment in effort to deter the dirt from his Emerald eyes. When he opened them, West had taken a completely different demeanor. If he was nervous before, this was something completely different. His face was red, his speech faltered. 'Did he just say what I thought? I have to be dreaming..that can't be right. Even if it were me, that goes completely against pack law. A inferior can't fall for a superior. Especially an alpha. I mean, this is what I wanted. Really, really wanted. But I didn't actually know it would happen. I got ahead of myself. I should've never brought this up..'
"West.." He paused, knowing he would regret what he was about to say. "I love you. I've had an eye for you ever since I met you. I would've said something sooner...but I didn't want to ruin anything. West, I want you to be my mate. I know it goes against the rules, but I don't care. I'd give up everything if it meant being with you. Let the pack decide as they will. Demote me, kick me, I don't care. All that matters is that you want to do this. You do, don't you?" Shade knew that them becoming a couple could potentially have the both of them demoted and/or kicked from Deepwood. Would West want to risk that?

The anxiousness and fear that coursed through West was obvious. Even if Shade was okay with his being gay, there truly was no certainty that his feeling towards his longtime friend were mirrored. What if they weren't? He'd be absolutely destroyed. Whatever pain brought by keeping that secret for so long would only be amplified by the rejection of his one true love. It was past recollection the last time that he'd loved a female in that sense. But, Shade. He was amazing. A caring, warmhearted, outspoken wolf with such charm and beauty beneath each strand of sable fluff. He was honestly quite breathtaking.
West's eyes grew wide when the large mutt spoke of his feelings, and, the impossible happened. The brute of a wolf, a wolf who's failed to shed even a single tear for the fallen – those he'd slain, of course – and a wolf who so commonly remained unfazed and stoic by all means, had let loose a salty show of emotion. It didn't last long, though. Maybe just a tear or two. He quickly recovered and returned to his normal demeanor, for the most part. What was happening to him? "I love you too, Shade. And, I don't care if they kick me for wanting to be with you. We've survived on our own for the longest now, and can do so once again. I care very little about my rank, as well. I mean, I'm proudly a beta under your command, but, said title will not love me. It won't keep the pain of waking up with none to call my own away. You make me happiest of all, and, for that, I'd give everything... For you, I'd give everything." He spoke proudly, though, stuttered some. It wasn't easy to admit to your alpha of a best friend that you'd fallen so deeply in love with him. "I want to do this, so long as you do, too." The white canine added, gazing timidly into the green eyes of Shade.

Pity struck Shade's chest hard. He had never seen West shed a tear before. He almost couldn't hold them back himself. So many emotions swirled within him. The biggest being happiness. Sure, he feared for his future in the park life, and probably would end up forfeiting his position to someone who could better cater to it, but none of that mattered anymore. His longtime best friend meant so much more than any of that. The rest of what West said was a blur. He listened deeply to hear his voice, but didn't listen to what he was saying. He was much to happy. Shade would finally have a mate, and his long-kept secret was loose. He needn't be something he's not anymore. He didn't care what anyone thought about him.
He thrust his body foward, falling onto West's chest. He nuzzled under his front legs, drawing in the sweet, almost earthy scent. He rubbed his muzzle all over his friend's chest, then finally brought his face up. He met West's eyes, nose to nose. The size difference did make Shade appear rather feminine, but size didn't mean anything. "I do. I really do." He kissed him, then sat back. "As much as I hate saying this, we really should get back to the shrine. I suppose we'll talk to the others when they return."
