Panic seemed to hit the small group like a bowling ball to it's pins. The chaos had been building up and rolling towards them, hitting the female and her acquaintances with a Strike! Jelara's comment seem to piss the dark wolf off and Silver made an alarming bark. There was no time for disagreements, they all had to work together. Though, at the time being, the band could not seem to find their harmony. This is what Alphas are for, the female raged to herself angry with the abandonment. The pleading look on her face searched desperately for an answer, each wolf equally as frantic. Her last look was to the brute who was bearing his teeth at the other female.
His snap caught Silver by surprise, a short yelp escaped her lips. He was much larger and she knew he held an advantage. Soon though, she realized the wolf held no dominance over her. Fenex held the same tier as she did. She shot back a quick snap in defense, her dark lips curling over the foaming canines. But the she-wolf had no urge to fight a pack mate, let alone she would probably lose. The Alphess' cousin looked overwhelmed and shocked. All ego and nothing else. She desperately wanted to shout her mock out loud but restrained with a clamp of her jaws in frustration. The brute soon shouted something in which Silver's ears could not hear over the ringing. The female watched him bolt away, shouting mockery and taunting the beast. She looked to Jelara who had not responded to her call. "You can't outrun a bear.." pleaded Silver, and it was true. A full grown bear could easily outrun a wolf. Heck! The bear could probably out run her if the chase went long enough. She paced nervously, itching to sprint as well.

Wynter could see one of his pack-mates booking it into the forest, a moment later noticing the bear giving chase. He lunged out of the brush he was hidden himself in and shouted at the wolf "Cubs are over there"
He turned around and headed toward the wolves back at where he was camping. He approached the one he remembered was called Silver. He glanced at her with a concerned look. He wasn't much used to speaking, but he did have a very rough idea of the common tongue. However his education could be considered at least lesser than most inhabitants of the island. He put his ears back and whined so as to comfort the two wolves who had looked pale. He turned around for a second to get a good look at how far the other one had gone. He wasn't quite at where he had dropped the cubs yet. The pair seemed unharmed but he wouldn't be satisfied without a response.

Distant barks filled the ears of the small female. The scent of the male called Wynter approached closer and a whine came from the white wolf. He creeped closer and Silver filled with a sense of insecurity. The she-wolf lashed out at the male who was just trying to comfort her, her gleaming canines barely missed his pure coat. The impulsive she-wolf immediately felt regret to her actions and recoiled back, flattening her ears. The goddamn situation was bringing out a snappy side of Silver that she didn't like to see.
The he sound of the rumbling bear still echoed through her erect ears, desperately wanting to abandon the situation all together. She couldn't let anyone down and felt her devotion to the pack swell. She looked to Jelara, preparing to run with her.

The situation was deteriorating, and her comrades were not the seamless force she was hoping for. When the other Warrior reacted to her, Jelara levelled him with a stare until he seemed to get ahold of himself. She could almost see his pride and his rationality battling it out in his mind. Once this was done, and once everyone was safe, she was going to bring that fury out in him again, she decided. She wanted to fight him. Not for dominance, not really. Her bones were just singing in response to the anger in his eyes. But now was really, really not the time. She worried for Atlas, and needed to take action somehow. "Help me lead her away”, the black male stated, before bounding off after the mother bear. Jelara hesitated, torn between helping him and Atlas, or staying behind to protect the two scouts. “You cant outrun a bear”, Silver reasoned, nearly vibrating with tension and the will to run. The wolf-dog shook once, relieving tension and sending flakes of drying bear blood flying out of her mane. “I don’t need to outrun it”, she said flatly. “You need to get Red Rot, or at least howl a warning for anyone nearby, I don’t think we’ll end up killing this thing. And get Wynter out of here- he reeks of bear cub.” Jelara took a second look at the smaller female. She wasn't a warrior, but she might be useful. If anything happened to Fenex or herself she would be able to get help faster than they could. “Or if you must come with me, for the love of the gods stay out of the way”, she said, frustrated, but understanding how little control she had over anything here. With a final deep breath she ran after Fenex. Each of her long strides sent a blaze of fire across her hip as the wound on her side opened and closed like the gills of a fish. The bitch just grit her teeth and ran harder. Fenex was just up ahead, distracting the bear with a vicious dance. She couldn’t see Atlas, but something told her the brave Keeper was somewhere nearby. Jelara spun to face the bear beside Fenex, and with bear blood was matted into her chest and clotted between her teeth, she looked savage. She let loose with a hail of snarling and barking, never attacking, and always just out of reach. She weaved in as the other Warrior backed away, ducked back when he was taunting the bear, and tried hard to coordinate their efforts. All the while she had her eyes out for Silver, Atlas, Wynter and the opening Fenex and her needed to get out of there. I have not progressed the story at all, but forgive me. I’m just trying to keep up with the mad dash of posts here. Mentioned: Atlas, Silver, Fenex, Wynter Adressed: Silver, Wynter [/style]

The bear continued trailing him. He couldn't help but wonder why Jelara and Fenex were angry at eachother. Jelara's comment could've been percieve as somewhat demanding, but not enough to have your tail in that big of a knot over. Maye Fen had a bad day..? Oh well, it didn't really matter. He shouldn't be pondering such frivolties. Especially when a thousand pound bear was practically swiping at his behind. He hoped Jelara decided to help Fenex. They'd need a team of at least three to comlete the plan he had in mind. He continued to run, yelling out childish remarks while doing so. He loved to act like a pup when he was alone, he really did. It was a freedom that he could only experience while in solitude. To his surprise...moreover, luck, both Fenex and Jelara were coming up on his right. They hadn't seen him yetbecause they were behind the beast, but he caught a glimpse of them when he rounded a tree earlier. Snow and sleet flew from his paws whenever he bounded. He must admit, it looked pretty radical. "Awesome! You guys showed at the perfect moment...I mean, I like being chased by a bear and all. It's quite thrilling, actually. That was sarcasm. Seriously, though. I have a serious plan. If executed properly, we can have a bear-cicle. I want you guys to stay back there. Keep her coming, nip at her heels. Whatever you have to do. I'll lead her on. The river is not too far up. If we can get her to follow me onto it, surely, it'll fauter under her weight. I can swim, and cold doesn't really bother me all too much, so if I do fall, I'll live. Did you catch any of that?"
The whole time he spoke, his voice was broken by breaths. He really needed to rest. Thankfully, he was less than half of a mile from the river. It was practically the equivelent of chasing a hare now. Only, this hare was following him with intentions to eat him. Oh, how the tables have turned. Atlas should be the one getting a full belly at the end of this, not the hare. The river was in site. The ice was patchy--worse than he accounted for. He gulped hard. "A-alright guys! We're approaching fast. Keep her coming!"

Jelara almost sang to see the small Keeper was ok. His breath was patchy withe exertion, but he managed to spit out a crude formula of a plan. she caught most of it, even as preoccupied as she was. River, ice, lead, Atlas, swim. Ok. It felt good to have a plan, so they weren't all running around like lost chickens. She even laughed around her own panting breath at Atlas's puppyish antics. She shifted her direction and forced Fenex to do the same. The two of them followed Atlas just feet in front of the roaring, slashing monster. But the new purposed released some of the stress. Now that they had a plan, and a new order, she felt more confident. She was bolder in her attack, and faster with her dodging. She was starting to enjoy the game of it, even as her muscles screamed and her torn shoulder ached. This is what she was meant to do. She was a fighter. She heard the river before she saw it. The creaking of the ice and the cold rush of the water. She trusts Atlas, but he is crazy to think he could survive in that. She'll just have to look out for him, thats all. She'll go into that icy water herself if she had to. So close now. She weaved and ducked, sending the beast into a frothing rage. Jelara took another step back, and then another... Suddenly her left leg fell out from under her. A shock of cold rode its way up her body. She was too far back, and had stepped on the river. Her heavy mass had punched a hole through this weak spot so close to the shore, and her paw was stuck. And she knew, instinctively and irrevocably, that she would not get out fast enough. The bear struck out again, in the same move she had dodged a million times within the last hour. Jelara screamed. The howl contorting in her mouth into a sound of doomed, helpless terror. Her last thought, crystal clear and frozen in her mind, was that her puppies had made that exact same sound the day they died. The paw caught right behind her ears and she heard the curious sensation of sound from within her own head. The side of her skull shattered with the deep, hollow sound of ice cracking on a lake. Eyes frozen in a look of shock, and a tiny trickle of blood from the dent behind her ear, Jelara was dead before she hit the ground. Rest in peace Jelara Hey guys, I’ll be tracking a break from RP for a while. Life is kicking my butt in four directions and I no longer have the time or creative drive to do this awesome thing right now. But I’ll be back with a fresh new character as soon as I can commit to playing one. See you all soon. [/style]

Wynter stood there frozen in shock. What had happened!? A wolf he barely knew had just died right in front of him. He inched closer to the person, hoping her dying breaths were still intact. Cold, nothing. It was over. She was dead. The tears began to drip down his face. How could he let this happen!? How could he let somebody die? He didn't even know anybody yet, and someone was already dead. No, he could take this. He just stood there, not moving, only a waterfall of tears to signify he was even alive. He stared at the body. What was her name? He didn't even know. How horrible was he, that he didn't know the name of a person who would die for others survival. Now was not the time for sorrow. He forced himself to keep moving. There would be a time to grieve, but not now. No, he would end up just like her if he did. Dead in less than a second. It was such a quick death, almost unreal. He loved animals yes, but he didn't think he could ever forgive the bear for what it had done. He moved back, and then returned to her body. The least he could do was get it somewhere appropriate right? He couldn't just leave her there! He waited till he had lost the bear attention, and began to attempt to move her, at least to where the others were. No he couldn't. He needed help! I guess that's what friends were for? He ran back into the forest shouting for anybody. Words: 216 Tags: None Muse: high Notes: OMG WHAT JUST HAPPENED THIS IS SO CRAZY

His tongue hang freely, his breaths were forced out quickly. White clouds quickly vanished into the air. His lungs felt as if they would freeze and shatter. The thought alone made his stomach turn. He was trying to stay positive, but truthfully, he just wanted to go home and sleep. A few more moments of the bear chasing him, that's all. Just a few more moments. The sound of punctured ice caused him to leap foward. A hollow sound, unforgiving. Behind him, there was no trace of shattered ice. As far as he could tell, the bear was still topside...that could only mean one of two others. Atlas turned sharply, careful not to slip. 'Oh no...' He thought. Jelara was down. One of her legs was shoulder deep in the ice. The bear had noticed. There are so many ways this could turn out..all of them bad. Atlas's only option was to run as hard as he could in hopes of intervening the bear's attack, possibly giving Jelara time to escape. He would risk being attacked hard, probably knocked unconcious, but he had to do something. Twenty feet away..the bear readied her paw..ten feet..it's not looking good at all..."JELARA NO!!!" The cold air was pierced by a shrill scream, warm blood peppered Atlas's coat, releasing little streams of what seemed to be smoke.
Her final cry reverberated throughout the sinister forest, echoing off until it was no more than a feint ghost of a noise, dissolving into the wind. It was over, the small sled dog had fallen victim to the brown-furred beast. Her limp body gushed blood onto the snow-covered ice, urging it to melt. Her leg remained captured. Atlas wanted to mourn right then and there, but he couldn't. Reality hit him, and he looked up. Thankfully in the nick of time. The large ursid was preparing another swipe, this one directed at himself. He leapt to the side, baring fangs. A vicious growl was released from deep inside of him. He'd never been so angry before, and had faith that he could rip this bear apart with no help. Sure, the task sounded impossible--was impossible, but he felt as if he could. Rationality was no longer something he held. "Gnnnyaaah!!!" Atlas pushed forth all of his effort into a jump. He aimed directly at her throat. His mouth was wide open. He felt contact underneath his claws. They were latched into her shoulders. His mouth came next. He snapped right under her chin, grasping tightly on her throat. Blood, sweet, sweet blood rushed over his tongue, only furthering his need to destroy her. His side seemed to catch fire. Her paw-the same one that took the life of his friend-hit his side hard, knocking him to the ground with a thud. His vision became blurry and bordered with black. He was laying a few feet away from her, her dead eyes staring at him. He'd planned on talking to her, he had unspoken feelings for her, but it was too late now. The chance would never come. He couldn't bare to watch her any longer, not like that. He needed to finish what they'd started. He needed to kill that lousy piece of shit bear. He had to. He pushed to his paws, the ground now soaked in his blood. Snow stuck to his fur. He let out another hateful roar, staring the bear down with a hell-bringing gaze. She was going to pay. Fenex To Fenex it was almost as the air seemed to change... Emotions seemed to skyrocket. He could feel it, something was wrong, and Atlas only confirmed what the black wolf was fearing. Jelara. She was gone.
He turned his head, unsure of what he was about to see. He was afraid, he felt like he couldn't breathe, it felt like time suddenly came to a stop and his heart felt like it stopped beating. His eyes widened as his gaze settled upon the lifeless form of Jelara. "No..." The black male muttered, sounding almost out of breath when he spoke. "Jelara... Please, no." Fenex said, his words almost inaudible as he struggled under the shock he was experiencing. He then saw Atlas charge forward and Fenex took one step, almost attempting to catch Atlas but was simply way to slow compared to the other male. "Atlas!" He barked, concern flooding over him and taking over the sound of his voice. Where was Red Rot? Where was their Alpha when they needed her? She was going to come back home and hell was going to be raised... Fenex knew it, he knew his cousin well enough. He was sure she'd go out on a wild hunt for any and every bear once she found out what happened to Jelara. But now Fenex had to make sure this pack did not lose another member.
"Atlas! Please, just pull back! Don't get yourself killed!" Fenex barked at the other male when he witnessed his pack mate get struck and thrown to the ground. But then Fenex froze and felt quite silly for even trying to tell Atlas to back down. Why should any of them back down? One of their own had just been killed. A part of their family. Jelara was gone. She had been taken from them so suddenly. It was so difficult to process all in that short time but all Fenex was sure about was Jelara was gone and something had to be done. Revenge. Revenge was on his mind immediately. He didn't want to lose another member of the pack, his family.
Fenex moved forward towards the bear and snarled loudly, gaining the bears attention rather easily. This creature, it was insane, psychotic. Fenex didn't understand why this bear was still even trying to fight them. He had forgotten by now what had even started this whole wild chase in the first place. But honestly he could not give two shits about what started it. What he cared about now was how he and the others were going to end it.
Kill it.
"Atlas. Stay behind it." Fenex said as he kept his eyes on the bear and almost did a dance on his toes, getting closer to the bear and then stepping back, ensuring he kept its attention. Almost teasing the bear with his presence, making it think he was coming in to attack only to quickly step back and confuse the bear. "I'll try to keep its attention on me. I need you to come in for a finishing blow when it is least expecting it." The black wolf said, his eyes moving to his pack mate, hoping Atlas had the energy still left in him to fight. Fenex would fight as well if it came down to it. He would risk his life to keep Atlas alive if his own plan did not work and he ended up endangering the other male. He would be willing to throw himself in front of Atlas if the bear turned to him. Fenex was hoping the bear would keep its eyes on him and allow Atlas to get the energy to take advantage of the chance to come in and go for the throat and kill it.
"Do it for Jelara." Fenex suddenly said, as his eyes focused on Atlas for a moment until he looked back at the bear and barked at it, baring his canines and snarling loudly.

His breath caught in his throat. The growl would surely lead him to being hoarse for the next few days--given, he wouldn't still be alive. Fenex was visible now, clearly in awe of what just happened. How could he not be? A wolf..no, a friend, had just lost her life right before his eyes. Thinking it over again did nothing to verify it. It all felt like a dream. A horrible, ugly nightmare. The kind that would wake you up screaming. Atlas kept hoping this was the case. He would wake up in only a moment, probably sometime in the late evening, to find his pack, his family, still in tact. Nothing can change that fast. Not so drastically. It's not supposed to work like that. He listened to what Fenex was saying, still keeping tabs on the brown giant. At this point, he didn't care how the bear died, as long as it ended up bleeding out on the ice. To show that he understood, he replied with a single nod. If he were to speak, it would probably come out in a dry creak, and he would most likely burst into frantic tears. He just needed to keep himself together until this all ended. As promised, the black wolf took the bear's attention, opening his back to Atlas. He leapt up again, forgetting about his gash. From his mouth emitted a contorted whine. It didn't stop him from clinging to the bear. His teeth dug in deep, instantly drawing more of that iron-scented substance. His back paws found hold in the bear's flesh, and his front paws went into a swinging frenzy, ripping out fur and skin. He could feel wetness on his side. He was covered in blood, both his and the bear's. He wasn't going to let up. His paws smacked the brown form's back over and over again, each hit going deeper and maiming his flesh more. A fuzzy cloud fatigued his vision, which he could relate to his blood loss. He wouldn't be concious much longer, especially at the rate he was despencing his energy. Bones, sinking like stones, All that we fought for, Homes, places we've grown, All of us are done for.

A grey and black wolfess stumbled into a forest, one she'd never seen before. She was freezing, quivering and shivering as she shoved her way through the deep snow. She was short; despite her long legs, the snow came up pretty high on her. It didn't help that she was scrawny, having a tough time hunting when there wasn't much prey around. "If I weren't such a good hunter, I'd be dead by now." She grumbled to herself, lashing her tail and pinning her ears to her head in annoyance. She stopped and sniffed, hoping to find a scent.... Any scent. Food would be nice. However, Valeria had been looking for a group to be with. She'd found quite a few in the past year since her adoptive mothers death, but none of them seemed to work. One reason or another, she always left or got kicked out. Some, she simply wasn't comfortable. Others, she didn't fit in and couldn't adapt to their customs. So a rouge she'd been marked, losing hope of finding a home every time she set out again. She could smell nothing. Setting off again, she shoved her way through the snow. She was so lonely, she desperately hoped she would find someone soon.

Crystalline crept out of the shadows, steps soundless. She looked at the other wolf, muttering to herself, it was clear she didn't have a pack. "I'm Crystalline, let's find a pack together," She said, waiting for approval "We'd survive much better when we've to together." Crystalline continued, eyes wide. To be honest, Crystalline was freezing in this cold, and haveing someone to talk to seemed wonderful, she just hoped the other will say yes, if not, she will have to do some unsavory things to keep herself alive and hidden. Crystalline looked down at her long, silver coat matted with snow "Having you in winter is a gift." She muttered.

Valeria looked at the other wolf, ears pinned back to her skull. She lashed her tail, eyeing the other wolf carefully. "I'm Valeria." The silver and black wolfess sniffed towards Crystalline. "How do I know I can trust you?" She sounded tired and cold, and she was. Valeria also knew it was smarter to group up, especially in Winter. As much as she didn't want to, she had to admit she'd been pretty lonely.

Crystalline laughed, a quiet light chuckle " We need each other, I'll protect you and you'll get me food." Crystalline's face softened "Plus, it's always good to team up in winter." Crystalline paused, then started speaking again, forcing herself to be cheerful 'When we find a pack that'll take us in, we can become pretty good packmates with a great story, eh?" She sat down, waiting for the other's answer. Crystalline knew it was a hard thing to decide, especially in the dead of winter, so she just waited, however, even this tiny conversation has lifted Crystalline's spirit some, and her eyes gleamed with happiness.

Valeria turned her head, but let her ears unpin. She grumbled to herself about knowing Crystalline was right and she'd be stupid to say no. She looked silently at her for a moment, sizing her up curiously. Crystalline was much bigger than her, and could keep her safe. But it was probably harder to hide and sneak for her in the dead of Winter. Besides, Crystalline didn't seem so bad. Then she wouldn't have to be alone anymore.... Finally, Valeria nodded. "You're right." The grey she-wolf perked her ears, letting her fur lie smooth. "
