Frozen Forest
Frozen Forest is a lush evergreen plantation in the warmer months, but during winter time becomes unforgiving and cold. The river creates a feeding ground for many types of wildlife, keeping the Frostwind pack nourished and healthy. However, in the winter, the inhabitants relocate, leaving food supply low. The river freezes over if the temperature becomes drastically low. The thickness of the ice varies, and it is not uncommon for wolves and other animals to fall through. If this is to happen, death becomes highly inevitable.

It wasn’t the same type of beauty you could find anywhere else- it was not the colourful, ripe or rolling landscape of the grey lake or its hills. In the winter this land was a collection of jagged rocks tied together with frozen hatred. It was wild, inhospitable and gave zero shits about anyones will to live. But in the summer, it was plentiful. With her incredible hearing she could hear the rabbits in the undergrowth and the migratory birds in the trees, all under the sound of her own breath, and the rushing of the river. You could run for miles in this tundra and never change direction, you could howl for days and no human would hear you, it tugged at the part of her that wanted space and freedom and something to fight. She didn’t wander far from the den. She could still see it glimpse between the trees a kilometre away. She didn’t want to be alone, she just wanted to take another search around the area. The plentiful game this time of year was both a blessing and a curse; the wolves fed well, but so did the other predators. It made her paranoid to see weasels and deer so close to her home, always assuming that cougars and other wolves would follow the feast. The wolf bitch had just stepped over an inconveniently placed rocky outcrop, her head down to prevent her slippery death, when a guff of fresh spring wind slammed the warm, musty smell of fur up her nose. At the same time, a flock of birds burst out of a nearby evergreen to a chorus of startles squawks. Time froze for a long second as her paranoia was realized. With very deliberate movements, she raised her head to look up under the needle-spiked branches of the tree. Two baby bears, kodiak cubs, hung from the high branches, looking down at her with wide brown eyes. Oh shit. Jelara was just able to get out one short warning howl to the den before the mother bear came hurtling out of the woods behind the tree. The bear was monstrous, well over eight hundred pounds, with honey fur and massive teeth. Jelara scrambled off the outcropping and swung to face her- letting loose with a chorus of frothing barking. It’s suicide to fight a Kodiak, she knows. And normally she would have shot out of there at the merest whiff of bear cub in the air. But have a mothering bear so close to the den is incredibly dangerous. And if she played her cards right, she might be able to scare it off- or survive long enough for the rest of the pack to help defend their home. Mentioned: None Adressed: None [/style]

Fresh summer rain created haphazardly placed puddles everywhere on the forest floor. Now, just because the time of year was early June, that didn't mean the temperature was anything comfortable. It would usually always remain below freezing, in turn, chilling the puddles to a very icy slush. As Atlas was returning from his daily walk, or run; whatever it was he did when he was alone, his paw found way into one of the said slush puddles, and he cursed under his breath. He shook his paw and splattered the ground with the water. The fur on his paw had already started to freeze. 'What a weird sensation' he thought, 'annoying, but weird..' The den--a small, round cave formed under the root of a large evergreen--was now in site. As the sight became more familiar, the scents did as well. One in particular stood out. Jelara. But what was she doing out so late? She should know it's not safe out at this time.
Just then, a sharp yip broke the cold night's silence. Coincidentally, or rather not, it was her. Atlas rushed in her direction, and was startled almost half to death. A humongous bear towered over the female, causing her to appear miniature in size. Upon further investigation of the scene, he could see exactly what was going on. Two bear cubs sat in one of the many trees. The only way out of this would be to flee--unless... Surely, a female and a small male alone couldn't fight a creature of this size. Much less win. He had to think, and think fast. Luckily, this was just the situation he was meant for solving. "Jelara! Don't stand so aggressively. Loosen up a tad. If you try to stand your ground, you'll be torn apart in no time. There's no way we can win this fight with the two of us alone. I don't see her den around here, so let's assume she's just passing through." While he was speaking, Atlas slowly walked stealthily around the massive brown-furred animal. He was hoping to have it turn around, and maybe, just maybe, Jelara could see his actual plan. He had no intention of running now. Exposing the bear's back to a wolf as vicious as the female couldn't end good. At least, not for the bear anyway. Of course the pack wouldn't let her down. She'd been part of the Frost wind pack for a little under a year, but she still felt like an outsider. Having lived a domesticated life before living among wolves had made her strange. Even now, faced with eight-hundred pounds of fur and teeth, she found herself waiting for her handler to tell her to attack. But no matter what, the Frostwind will protect their home. Just as Atlas snuck onto the scene, his narrow body and brindled coat naturally blending into the forrest, the bear lunged at the dancing wolf-dog with her six inch claws. Jelara jump out of the way just in time, and the bear ripped a deep gouge in the defrosting earth. The smaller male shouted at her to drop her aggressiveness, and she caught something about the mother bear "passing through" between bouts of her own apocalyptic barking. Of course, now that there were two wolves instead of one, she had more options than a brutal (and suicidal) head-on approach. But to drop her aggressiveness would also mean the bear would launch at her without hesitation. The only thing keeping the she-bear from charging the wolf a tenth her size was most likely the thought that the insane beast might get a bite or two in before being ground into mulch. Jelara couldn’t help it. She let out a short, harsh laugh. She knew what he was planning, and was starting to think he might be insane. It would require the kind of precise timing that could easily turn into a bloodbath if something went wrong. But if she ever had a chance to prove that she trusted the Frostwind pack, that would be the time. The bear made another swipe and Jelara didn’t respond with aggression, but cowered out of the way. Her barking stopped and her russet tail tucked between her legs, her head down in a scared, submissive pose. The sudden shift was jarring, and the bear was confused for a half second. Jelara held her breath, hoping Atlas could grab the beasts attention. Mentioned: Atlas Adressed: None [/style]

Jelara's chuckle indicated that she'd picked up on his plan-a plan that had at least a seventy-five percent chance of ending horribly wrong. Atlas decided long ago, that when he died, he wanted his death to look cool, so that thought trumped the ever-rising amount of fear he harnessed. "Hey, fatty! Turn around! I taste better than her. I may not be as big, but I'd be all tender and stuff. Trust me, you'd much rather want me." Atlas was attempting to redirect the bear's attention, and was somewhat succeeding. When the large ursid turned her beefy head, Atlas's prideful grin faded, and he gulped. She was much more menacing when she was focused. He could practically see the hunger in the empty holes they called eyes. Seriously, her eyes indicated no expression. She opened her mouth and let out a startling roar, saliva flew everywhere. She then turned the rest of her body to face Atlas, who was now sitting and licking his paw.He stopped mid lick. "You should really consider a better diet. That can't be healthy." Although on the outside, the brown wolf seemed calm, excited, even, on the inside, his heart throbbed.
He craned his neck to see behind her. Jelara was directly on her six. The bear'd completely forgotten about her. The plan would be put in motion in a matter of minutes--hopefully. Atlas was beginning to run out of insults to capture her attention. During his diversion, he couldn't help think about the two cubs. Killing there mother seemed a little harsh, and leaving them to die would be wrong. He supposed they could be used as food, but that was almost--if not-worse keeping them as pets would be unnacceptable. Who knew what could happen. Bears don't usually make friends. He opted for leaving them. They seemed old enough to care for themselves. "So, biggurl, whadda they call you? I mean, I wouldn't call you anything because I don't want you to come, but if I were, what would I use?" 'C'mon Jelara... I don't have too much longer before she charges.'

Btw, can we can talk to bears? Or was that purely for Jelara's benefit? Jelara nearly laughed at the Frostwind Keeper's antics. For a wise and knowing wolf, he had a long list of juvenile insults in his repertoire. Trying to be nonchalant as he faced one of the largest beasts in the tundra... Atlas has a child's soul, it seemed. Taking the opportunity given to her by the brave Keeper, Jelara swallowed her terror and leapt for the mother bear’s hind leg. Her teeth sunk through the matted fur, broke the skin, and blood flooded her mouth as she cut through the muscle beneath. In the half second it took to find her grip, Jelara dug in with her powerful sled-dog legs and gave a mighty pull. She heard the muscle pop and the skin tear under the bears pain filled scream. Emboldened by the taste of blood on her tongue, the russet female hung on for a second too long. Out of nowhere a paw twice the size of her head swung towards her as the bear twisted on the spot. The paw caught Jelara across the hip. The skin split open in three lines from her knee to her back, starting shallow, but bu the end three thin slivers of yellowish bone were visible. The force of it knocked the wolf-dog sideways- giving her the last pull she needed to separate the bear's flesh from her leg. Jelara skidded on her side through the slushy snow and rolled to her feet wobbly. She spit out the wad of fur and meat, and with a tremendous breath, howled every profanity she knew. Her injury wasn't life threatening, it wasn't even bleeding much, but oh gods, it hurt. In a single breath she insulted the stars, the trees, the oceans and every bear that had ever existed, and after she felt marginally better. The bear didn't seem to be getting on as well. Steam wafted from her open wound, and blood drenched her leg. Her cubs mewled from the tree in fear. Jelara let herself sink to the ground, half acting, while still relishing the chance to get off her damaged leg and reassemble her scattered wits. Hopefully Atlas could take his turn with more intelligence than she did. Mentioned: Atlas Adressed: [/style]

Atlas watched in full amazement, in full amusement as Jalara attacked the gargantuan bear. A brave feat indeed. In the blink of an eye, she had latched her face into the mother's back leg. She began vicously tearing. Blood became visible in only a moment. She growled as she tore and shook. The amount of pure verocity of the female sled dog was something to be marveld upon--from afar, that is. Like all good things, this came to an end; rather quickly, too. In a brutal turn of events, her leg suffered a horrible injury. Blood, flesh, bone-you name it. It could be seen. Her back leg was maimed pretty badly. In fact, Atlas became woozy just looking at it. His vision began to blur and he could feel his stomach attempt to regurgitate whatever it was he'd stuffed himself with earlier (fish, if he rememberd correctly.) He had to force himself to straighten out. The bear had completely forgotten about him, and while Jelara was busy yelping out profanities, he assesed the situation. As long as she was keeping the bear's attention, he had a perfect shot at the back of her neck. Once he gripped her there, he could practically paralyze her if he bit in the right place. That was not only the safest plan, it was the only plan. He had one try or it'd be game over..probably. "Hang on a little longer, hun. I've got another plan."
He knew she couldn't hear him over her bone rattling cries, but he felt better about speaking to her. He reared back, then let loose his entire body. The bear seemed even larger the closer he drew. He could now realize the size of one of the beast's paws was nearly larger than his entire head. He leapt up, then dug his claw into her back. He had to ignore the feeling he got when her flesh broke. It was disgusting. Another paw in, higher he went. He could now bite her neck. Score. His mouth was covered in saliva, frothy white. He opened wide, then snapped down. The huge being let out a roar, and began swatting aimlessly at her back. He was scared for a moment. The swats were uncomfortably close. He repeated the biting process a few times. Each time creating more puncture wounds in her flesh. His chest was stained dark red with her blood. He could see her bone now, and began dry heaving. His vision blurred again, and his paws were no longer responding to his command. His claws retracted, and he plummeted to the snowy ground with a thud. His breathing was heavy, and his hearing was plauged by high-pitched ringing. Slowly, his vision returned. He could only hope Jelara would be able to cover him until he recovered from blacking out.

Silver seemed to be wandering on the exact opposite side from where her pack mates were. She knew she should stay by their side in case trouble aroused but it was just to uncomfortable. The adolescent female spent a little amount over a year as a lone wolf when her father abandoned her. She hadn't been necessarily exposed to proper socialization and often felt awkward, busting her tail outa' there. She had joined the pack just at the turn of the Alpha a few months back. The wolf bitch being drawn to the snow and ice, leading her to Frostwind territory in which she had been graciously accepted. Her surroundings now though were by no means snowy and icy. The winter trapped water had melted and evaporated, causing the air to become uncomfortably sticky. The humidity made Silver extremely antsy. She lay now by a temporary creek of newly melted ice, running thinly down a barely noticeable slope. The run from the other wolves to her solitude had been a fairly easy one, using her sprinting skills to reach the destination of which she was now with ease. The very reason for being so antsy in humidity is Silver's dread that she will melt. Yea. Melt. For a wolf as smart as she, Silver still thinks she can liquidize into a musky puddle when she gets too hot; she preers keeping cool and often uses summer as a lounge time so he doesn't get the chance of over heating and yes, melting. Even if the air still had a chill, she knew summer could get fairly warm.
The peacefulness of the night is what called Silver to her solitude, offering an oasis of being alone. As she lay however, the lean scout became aware of an uncomfortable feeling in her core gut. It was lurching, seeming to pace, telling her to get her ass up and move. She didn't smell anything though, therefore she was fine. Then-- it hit her-- perhaps a pack mate was in danger. The thought of having a wolf in which Silver so loyally pledged her service to upon entering the pack made the she-wolf dizzy. She sprinted up, bolting to the spot where other wolves should be. The run felt mysteriously longer though, the very fear and dread through her body making the trip seem exceptionally long and tiring. The long slender legs on the female soared, taking her great lengths with each stride but her step was faltering. She was temporarily off balance when her paw hit an upright rock, causing a stinging slit across the pad. She kept going however, mustering her breath for a single howl. The ringing sound traveled far but was not long lasting.
She reached the clearing in which her pack usually socialized but no one was there. Sounds of snarling and growling rung through her ears, taunting her very soul. The sound seemed like it was coming from every corner in the forest. A wail escaped her lips as she realized her senses had failed her. Then-- a scent flooded her nose. A familiar trail of two wolves flooded the faithful black nose at the end of the little female's snout. Then more terrifying scents: bear, blood. She raced after the smell, skidding to a stop just out of sight of the three creatures. The male in which had a similar build to her own, lean but muscular, lay almost out on the ground. The female was taking the bear head on, using a great strength. However, the female seemed to be faltering, an open gash on her leg doing the fierce wolf no mercy. She has to stop being aggressive. Silver urges in her mind The mother bear is simply protecting her cubs from what she sees as a threat. The silver wolf knew she could not tackle that bear alone. But she knew what she could do. Run. And thats exactly what she did, but in the direction of the beast.
The quick female raced out to where the wolves were struggling and mustered all her courage to head straight on after the she-bear. She pinned her ears back and took the long strides in which she was most comfortable with, racing just under the very belly of the beast. She snapped at the bear's underside causing a long but shallow gash with her teeth. The bear roared, turning to face the puny wolf who dared to cross right under neath her nose. Silver clenched her jaw and barked a quick taunt at the bear and turned around, soaring through the forest. The bear roared again, shaking the floor beneath her paws and blundered after the silver thing that had angered her.

Fenex Fenex was laying around waiting for someone to make a wrong move just so he could swoop in and put them in their place. His cousin, the alpha, was nowhere in sight and they had no Betas after his mother had stepped down alongside the old Alpha, Red Rot's mother. So someone had to keep the more ferocious and undisciplined members of the pack under control while Red Rot was away. He took great pride in throwing his weight around. He liked being the dominant one and when others saw him coming their way they'd quickly roll over and tuck their tails. But occasionally he'd run into a few brave souls... Those that tried to bark and growl at him, those that tried to bite him and fight him. Those were the ones that made this "keeping order" thing a lot more fun for him.
"Where is RR? She needs to hurry up and get her ass back over here and be an Alpha." Fenex growled loudly as he was standing up, noticing that most of the pack had seemed to scatter. If they were scattering then he guessed he'd get up and do the same, maybe find some food while he was out walking around. He released a long sigh as he stood and shook his black coat out, the hairs along the back of his neck standing up wildly like they always did. The black wolf took one last glance around himself before he trotted off further into the woods.
It didn't take long before something caught his attention and he stopped in his tracks. A particular smell or smells. Blood. Wolves, more specifically Jelara and Atlas. His ears stood straight up, facing forward, his black nose twitched excessively, his golden yellow eyes narrowed slightly. "A bear." He suddenly said under his breath before moving forward quickly in the direction of the smells. But when he found the source it was running off after something, something silver. He couldn't focus on that for too long though as he quickly caught sight of Atlas and Jelara. His golden yellow eyes widened immediately.
"Whoa, are you alright Jelara?" Fenex asked as he approached the female, seeing her wound. His gaze then switched to Atlas and he stared at the male. "And how about you Atlas? Are you alright?" The black wolf asked before looking in the direction that the bear had run off in after something. Fenex was sure he knew who it had been. That silvery fur. It must have been Silver. He had to help her then but first he wanted to make sure his other fellow pack members were alright.

Jelara was scrambling to her feet, rushing in to defend her pack mate, but she instinctively knew she would not get there in time. The bear was rounding on the defenceless wolf, sensing an easy kill. And then a silver bullet swept by. A bitch came through like lightning, scoring a shallow cut on the belly of the beast, and, after a cocky bark, disappeared over the low ridge. The bear was caught off balance, but quickly reacted to this new threat. She left the downed male wolf in favour of the new beast. The rumbling thunder of crashing brush and bear paws followed them out of the clearing. And as soon as the pair were gone, Fenex ran onto the scene. He took in the sight, and Jelara could see his nostrils flare with the smell of so much blood. The wolf dog ignored him at first and ran up to the Keeper’s side, nudging him with her nose. He didn’t look hurt, and he seemed to be coming around. Good. This is good. “We’re ok, Fenex. Thank gods you and Silver are here- I didn’t think we’d last much longer.” she checked her own wound to be sure she could still fight. A thin trickle of blood was running between her toes. But she could still stand on it, and that was the important part. “Mama bear will be back- she wouldn’t leave her children. No matter how far Silver gets that bear is coming back here.” So, what do they have? Her mind took a quick inventory: Silver the scout, the swiftest, but lacking in brawn. Atlas the keeper, the most clever, but weak in combat. Fenex the warrior, the most aggressive, but not a team player. And herself, a warrior bitch with strength but no speed. Making a split second decision, Jelara wheeled on the prone Keeper. They had absolutely no time to waste. “Get up!” she roared directly in his ear. “That bear is coming back and you’ve got ten seconds to come up with a plan.” “And you.” she turned to their golden-eyed saviour with a ferocity she had never turned on another warrior. “Are going to listen.” Oh yes, she knew the beautiful black wolf was infamous for his dominance. Hopefully either she or Fenex himself could keep it under control while the Keeper set the stage. She doubted the Atlas could stand up to someone as intimidating as the him. Silver continued bolting, slowly starting to panic. The bear would eventually get bored and go back to where her pack mates were slowly trying to get themselves up. The dim light was not helped by the surrounding dense trees and the female wolf was gaining scratches by the minute. The bear's snorts were easily heard and the plan in Silver's mind was slowly starting to become clear. All the bear wants is her cubs... Silver rounded a sharp bend, making a u-turn to head back to the others. She let out a quick howl telling them she's heading back and to be ready. Her large paws pounded on the floor, knowing the bear had to go back for her cubs. The grizzly was as fast as she was, easily gaining on the small wolf. A snap from behind Silver caused a quick yelp in fear. The canine was not built to withstand force attacks from other wolves, let alone a full grown mama bear. The 'silver bullet' as she had often been called, darted left, taking a tight shortcut back. The shortcut was through dense brush in which she managed to squeeze through, gaining her more scratches and cuts. The bear had to go around so Silver would reach her pack mates a few seconds before the large beast. In this situation, a couple seconds made all the difference. As she scrambled through the bushes, her long shaggy fur had not been shed yet since winter causing it to snag. Silver yanked and flailed out of the brush, practically collapsing in front of her pack mates. The bellowing behind her quickly coming closer. She took a deep breath and wobbled up. "She just wants her cubs!" shrieks Silver with a panicked look, "we just have to leave the stupid babies alone! Her motherly instinct is kicking in, we obviously cannot bring down this bear and the last thing I want to do is leave her cubs motherless. It leaves you in a lost state that is unimaginable. Just trust me on this and drop the aggression!" she practically wails, constantly checking over her shoulder at the rumbling. Her chest heaves up and down, the long term running kicking in. Until suddenly, the bear pulls through the trees and roars. Focus was regained..at a horribly leisurely pace. Adrenaline controlled his body, everything appeared to be moving exceptionally slow. Normally, this could be a good thing, but as of now, all it suceeded in doing was giving him a better look at the bear, who just so happened to have her mouth wide open. She was preparing to eat Atlas. To top off the creepy, blood from behind her head trickled onto her chest. For some odd reason, this brought the downed wolf's attention to his own chest, which was also covered in blood, only, it wasn't his own. Out of nowhere, Silver appeared. Under all circumstances except this one, he wouldn't have been able to tell it was her, but since everything was moving so sluggish, he could somewhat easily tell it was her. He'd pretty much forgotten about the bear, moreover, he ignored the bear because he could basically foretell the outcome. Silver's beautiful presence, however, flipped the situation. The bear was on her tail in a flash. Atlas was free! His head throbbed like crazy, indicating he must've come into contact with a rock of ice, or just a rock in general. He thought himself to have gained a concussion. Who is that? Fenix! Another wolf came to their aid. He seemed more worried in their condition than the bear, though. Atlas could lie and say he was fine, but he doesn't like lying that much. It just tends to cause confusion. "I am not so good, Fenix. I think I acquired brain damage." He finally rose to his paws, but only after Jelara shouted at him. He was already barely conscious, and her booming voice half knocked him out again. "Alright, alright. You don't have to yell it. Hmm...I gnawed a pretty decent sized crater in the back of her head..you could always continue that. Just a little more biting, and she'll be nothing more 'n a lump of meat." He looked at the bear, who was close behind Silver. Silver was saying something, but the ringing in his ears made it hard to decipher. Finally, he could tell what she was conveying. She was right about the bear wanting only her pups, but that meant eliminating threats, and at this point in time, all of them were threats. There was no way that bear would leave them alone. "Uhh, Silver...I don't think it'll be as easy as letting her go in peace. If we let our guard down, she'll murder us. It's too late to turn back." Atlas spoke swiftly, completely aware of the nearing ursid. It was far past time to instruct either of the wolves at his side on what to do. He hoped the mention of that bleeding hole on the bear's back would direct them. He decided he'd lead the bear to give Silver a chance to rest. When she arrived, he immediately let out an accusing bark, then ran in the direction that was behind him. Just as predcted, she followed. "Alright, guys! Show her who's the real predator!"

|| Mentioned: Jelera Atlas Silver Fenex- || Addressed:Jelera Atlas Silver Fenex - || Wynter could hear them. Some of the pack members he guessed, panicked about something in the distance. He quickly rose to his feet and took a path down the river to reach them faster. He could hear some of what they were saying by now. "Alright guys, show her who's the real predator" he heard. He gained speed, but was sensible enough to remain in the cover of nearby brush. He could see 4 of his pack. He had never talked to them. Then again, he didn't really talk to anyone. He contemplated before analyzing the situation. They had obviously enraged the bear, and he could hear and smell her cubs nearby. They may not be able to take it on, he thought, perhaps if I can try to get the cubs away from the territory the bear will leave them alone. He puzzled for a moment. Ok, he thought.
He crept around them, silent and speedy. He made it around the bear and crept toward the line of trees ahead. 2 cubs had taken shelter on top of some pine branches He grabbed the first cub into his mouth and lifted. A bit heavy, but he could bear it, at least for the sake of his pack-mates. He ran half a mile out and dropped it off. He went back for the second one to discover that this one was at least twice the size of the other. He grabbed and desperately dragged the cub as gently, but vigilant as possible.
Surprisingly, it seemed like nothing had changed. neither of them had mad a move yet. He crept closer as he watched in silence. Prepared to pounce on the bear if it even thought about making a move. Oh gosh, I hope this works!

Suddenly, as Silver lay in front of her pack mates, a sudden shift in scents filled her nose. The cubs' scents seemed to have shifted far away and were replaced with the scent of a male wolf. Strange, she thought with a tilt of her head, the cubs are gone... then with realization shit. "He touched the cubs!" she shrieked with horror, "Wynter took them!" She sprung up, sniffing the air and gave an alarmed bark. The thundering of the bear stopped suddenly, and the she-beast was obviously confused. Her confusion didn't last long however and she soon let out a thundering roar in pure rage. The trees shook all through out the slushy forest. Silver cringed at the noise but her mind was stuck. Where would the bear go? Could her and her pack mates just escape with their lives or did Wynter just make things worse? This was not Silver's forte, instant decisions flooded her head but she didn't dare speak them. She was not alpha and she knew her place. Instead, the small wolf bitch looked to the brute: Fen for her guidance. He was related to Red after all and perhaps his dominance would serve good for the situation the pack was in.

Fenex Fenex looked at Jelara and he felt something boil up inside of him. Anger. He was about to be rash and snap at her, lunge at her and throw her to the ground but something told him not to. While his anger was focused on Jelara the rest of him knew very well that the situation they were all in was simply not the appropriate time for him to act out.
The black male pulled his lips back and his ivory canines became bared to Jelara. But he said nothing while a low rumbling growl came through his clenched jaws. Now was not the time and he knew it as he lowered his head ever so slightly and pulled his ears back even while his canines remained bared. Fenex heard Atlas speak but then more things began to happen and it all became too much. This was exactly why Fenex was not an Alpha or Beta. This is why his cousin Red Rot was an Alpha... She was capable of remaining calm in dire situations like this one all while Fenex was not capable of handling not only himself but everyone else freaking out as well.
The large male could not handle all of the commotion. Some were looking for guidance from him and others were demanding him to remain in control of himself. That was too much to ask and he quickly turned to Silver and snapped at her, his jaws slamming shut as he directed his aggression at her. He didn't want anyone to panic excessively as he felt that would attract the bear more even if her cubs were no longer in the vicinity. "Someone needs to come with me." Fenex growled as his golden yellow eyes landed on Jelara as he automatically voted for her to be the one to come with him. "Help me lead her away." He added as he stared at Jelara.
He didn't wait for an answer though from the female as he then turned on his toes and took a few steps in the bears direction. He lowered his head, his ears stood straight up on his head, the hair along his back bristled wildly, including his already naturally crazy fur on the back of his neck, and he raised his tail. Fenex stood his ground for a moment before baring his long ivory canines and he snarled loudly as the bear came into sight. He released a bark, a loud deep bark that was ended with a growl. He was in the bears line of sight and the bear was in his and they stared each other down until Fenex made the first move which was one swift step back and this set the bear off as it made him its new target.
Fenex had to be quick and he didn't fail as he turned around and took one long leap away from the bear only to turn to face her again and barking, seemingly taunting the mother bear and trying to ensure he kept her attention. It worked too. She crept towards him, trying to get close and if she got too close Fenex would leap away again, remaining just right outside of her reach. Finally when she got too close again he snapped at her which got her roaring in his face and he barked back aggressively in response before running off and the bear followed in suit, trying to get a hold of the one that was taunting her. As he ran off with the bear following him he didn't even look behind him to see if Jelara was going to help lead this bear away or not with him. He could probably try and do it alone but for the most part he was hoping for some back up just in case things went a little out of hand.
All Fenex hoped for was that she could be led far enough away before he'd choose to lose her in the woods and leave her to find her cubs on her own.
